OUR FOUNDER

Michelle Moore Bell has dedicated over 40 years to helping women look and feel their best.

In 1994, Michelle founded The Wellness Groups, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on breast health awareness and empowering women to lead healthier lives, housed within her beauty and hair care salon, SALON 21.

Michelle's commitment to service has earned her widespread recognition and numerous accolades for her leadership, community service, and dedication to women's wellness, including recognition from BMW, NAWBO, American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Foundation, and many others and remains an active member of the West Angeles Church of God in Christ for 34-years and is actively engaged in various community and professional organizations.

Michelle has been featured in Who's Who in Black Los Angeles and was included in an exhibit by photographer Valerie Goodloe showcasing African American leaders in Los Angeles.

A native of Muncie, Indiana, Michelle has called Los Angeles home since 1978. She cherishes the legacy of her late husband, Richard L. Bell, with whom she shared 27 wonderful years.

Lunch & Learn with the Wellness Group - Cancer & Personal Care Products. September 30, 2023, 22nd Annual Breast & Whole Health Awareness Breakfast Forum.

On Saturday, March 16, 2024, we hosted a Lunch forum on Cancer & Personal Care Products! On Saturday, September 30, 2023, the Wellness Groups kicked-off Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Wellness Groups - Breast Health Awareness empowered women on breast health, breast cancer, mental health and heart health with moderator Rhonda E. Smith, ED of CA Black Health Network, and health experts Dr. Renee M. Poole, MD, MMM, CPE, FAAFP; and Arnedra Jordan, MPH, Health Equity Advocate/Project Manage-Black Women for Wellness.

It was a morning of health awareness empowerment, sisterhood, creating new relationships and fun with the photo op wall, snap picture booth and our favorite caricature artist, Mario.

We are grateful to our sponsors, partners, supporters and volunteers for making this health forum possible.

Thank you to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Mu Lambda Omega for hosting the check-in and registration. Dr. Ashley Wiley Johnson for introducing our founder and Gwendolyn Scott Goodman of BWN for providing the invocation and setting the atmosphere.

On Saturday, October 30, 2022, the 21st Annual Breast Cancer/Breast Health presentation by Dr. Rosalyn Morrell, MD., brought attention to the disparities we face as Black women with breast cancer & other health care.

Therefore, The Wellness Groups continues to be committed to reducing breast cancer death rate by empowering women with education, inspiration, and sisterhood. Kim Anthony Morrow spoke on Finding Joy. There was breakfast, music was by DJ Kenny D, Mario the caricature artist, pink carpet photo opportunity, exhibitors, giveaways, prizes and much more.

The Wellness Group Celebrated 20 Years of Empowering Women in 2021

Recap - The Wellness Groups hosted two events in 2021. On Saturday, May 1, 2021 (Virtual) and Saturday, October 2, 2021 (In-person - Garden event).

The 20th Annual Breast & Whole Health Awareness Forum for Women was held on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Historic Wilfandel Clubhouse Garden located in the Historic Adams District.

We are grateful to our sponsors, community partners, and supporters for helping to make this event successful and fabulous for the ladies.

It was a day of education, empowerment, joyful music, lunch, photo booth, caricature artist, vendors, giveaways, prizes, celebration, and more.
